Long Table Session: Slow Food Movement for Sustainable Food Systems

immagine comunicazione Long Table

On the occasion of the Week of the Italian Cuisine in the World, celebrating Italian culinary traditions and their connection to sustainability, culture, and community, the Italian Cultural Institute of Pretoria is proud to participate in the Long Table Session under the project Cultivating Sustainable Futures, curated by the Goethe Institute in Johannesburg.

This session will focus on the Slow Food Movement and its vital role in shaping more sustainable and equitable food systems. The Institute will join the discussion with Amanda Lorena Romero Ferrer, member of the Slow Food Movement, as a special guest.

The culinary experience will be curated by Culinary Pantsula, a renowned chef known for blending soulful food experiences with indigenous and modern ingredients, infused with a touch of conscious haute cuisine.

The session will be moderated by Inolofatseng Lekaba, who will guide a lively conversation with special guests, including Siphiwe Sithole from African Marmalade Farms, exploring their work in Slow Food and alternative conscious farming.

Guests will enjoy a guided walk on the farm, take part in meal preparation, discover the value of seasonal and local produce, and engage in inspiring discussions about how food can foster connection, sustainability, and cultural awareness.

RSVP is essential – places are limited.
Join us around the table for a day of shared learning, flavour, and reflection on how conscious food choices can help cultivate sustainable futures.
