Art in motion, partnership in progress. Stay tuned for our journey with Aterballetto.
What is Aterballetto?
The Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto presents international choreographers, seeks out young talent, experiments in a number of fields and fosters the engagement of dance with video, visual art, photography, live music and theatre. Since 2022 the FND/Aterballetto has been recognised by the Ministry of Culture as the first and only National Choreographic Centre in Italy.
Interaction with other disciplines (theatre, live music, photography, visual art), well-structured planning, production of performances of various sizes, attention to the maestros of choreography and to young people of all cultural backgrounds: these are the characteristics that today mark the FND/Aterballetto, and which have contributed to its new identity.
Aterballetto Company company – which has been producing performances from different horizons for over 40 years – represents the core and now consists of 16 permanent dancers, plus others added on individual projects.
The company undertakes numerous international tours and currently offers performances by Ohad Naharin, Johan Inger, Diego Tortelli, Philippe Kratz, Eyal Dadon, Norge Cedeño Raffo, Danièle Desnoyers, and Angelin Preljocaj.
The FND/Aterballetto is committed to fostering the culture of dance and its connection with other areas of contemporary society, both in Italy and abroad.
This involves a continuous research and development process, carried out with numerous partners, in the area of technological innovation and social fragility. This is directly linked to its participation in European projects, such as the creation of shows to be shown on-screen, or for virtual reality visors, for children, or with disabled performers or the over-65s.
