The Italian Cultural Institute in Pretoria is proud to contribute to the upcoming Unisa International Music Competition, one of the most prestigious global music competitions and the only one in Africa recognised by the World Federation of International Music Competitions.
From 21 January to 1 February 2026, Pretoria will host the 7th International Voice Competition, featuring both classical and jazz categories and attracting exceptional young singers from around the world.
Our Contribution
This year, the Institute supports the competition through the participation of an international judge: Alberto Triola, one of the most respected figures in Italian opera and music management.
About Alberto Triola
Triola is widely recognised for his leadership in major cultural institutions, including his role as General Director of the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and as Artistic Director of the Festival della Valle d’Itria.
He previously spent 14 years at the Teatro alla Scala and has directed acclaimed opera productions across Europe.
His work has contributed significantly to the revitalisation and international standing of several Italian opera houses and festivals.
Strengthening Cultural Dialogue
Through this collaboration, the Italian Cultural Institute continues to support artistic excellence and foster meaningful cultural exchange between Italy and South Africa. We are honoured to contribute to an event that promotes talent, creativity, and international artistic dialogue.
