ACADEMIC YEAR 2023-2024
The Call for application for scholarships to study in Italy for the academic year 2023-2023 has been published. The Italian Government offers this opportunity to citizens of South Africa, Lesotho and Madagascar, as well as Italian citizens with residence in South Africa.

Grant for study and research for the year 2023
Opportunities for Italian and foreign researchers, teachers, experts, personalities and cultural operators
The Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation supports and encourages study and research activities carried out by Italian and foreign researchers, teachers, experts, personalities and cultural operators in Italy and abroad.
The main aim of the grant is to encourage the development of strategic partnerships, cultural and scientific projects between foreign and Italian institutions in the medium and long term.
Who is it for?
The following can apply for a grant:
Foreign researchers, professors, experts, personalities and cultural operators invited to spend a period of stay at Italian universities or cultural institutions for study or research. The grant is paid as a lump sum and covers up to 8 days of activity in Italy (for a maximum amount of 906 euros).Italian researchers, teachers, experts, personalities and cultural operators invited to spend a period of stay at foreign universities or cultural institutions for study or research. The grant is paid exclusively for partial coverage (to the extent of 80%) of travel expenses.
How to ask for the grant
Candidates can apply for the grant, drawn up according to the attached form and complete with the required documentation, by writing to the Italian Cultural Institute or, in the absence of this, to the Italian diplomatic Mission competent for the Country.
The Italian Institute and the Directorate General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy (DGDP) of the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation agree to grant on the following criteria:
Resume of the applicant;Medium and long-term impact of the mobility in terms of development of cultural or scientific projects and partnerships between Italian and foreign institutions;Prestige of the cultural institutions involved;Principle of equal rotation among the beneficiaries;Compliance of the activities with the geographical and thematic priorities identified by the Directorate General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy;Cultural cooperation program in force between Italy and the country involved.
Information and deadlines
The grant application forms are attached. Activities are due to end no later than 14 November 2023. Furthermore, candidates have to send the documentation to the competent offices by the same deadline.
For further information, it is recommended to contact the Italian Cultural Institute or, in the absence of this, the Italian diplomatic Mission, competent for the Country.
The payment of the grant will take place after completion of the mobility upon delivery of the necessary documentation.
Italian beneficiaries will receive the amount of the grant directly from the DGDP while foreign beneficiaries will receive the contribution through the Italian diplomatic Mission.

LA SCALA OPERA ACADEMY - Course for Opera Singers – 2023/25

LANGUAGE The course is conducted in Italian. A course in Italian for foreigners is included in the curriculum according to need
HOURS PER YEAR 1,300 hours of study each year
ATTENDANCE Attendance is full-time and mandatory and thus not compatible with other work or study commitments. Students missing 25% or more of each year’s lessons will be expelled from the program. The Academy may grant students a leave of absence for artistic purposes for a maximum of 30 days per year if such leave is compatible with the Academy’s own artistic program and is deemed to be of sufficient quality to be warranted. Such leave is granted exclusively at the Academy’s discretion; it is not a student’s right
The La Scala Academy provides thorough, in-depth training to professional figures involved in the performing arts through its four departments: Music, Dance, Stagecraft, Management. Its broad curriculum ranges from basic and core training courses to specialization courses and professional workshops. The highest level of instruction is ensured by Teatro alla Scala professionals, acclaimed performers, and renowned experts in the performing arts. The teaching method derives from the philosophy of learning by doing and prepares students for their future career through intense daily exposure to the performing arts in a real world context.

Call for tenders for the annual "Bernardo Nobile" award
The national research body "Area Science Park", in collaboration with the Scientific and Innovation System of Friuli Venezia Giulia (SIS-FVG) have launched a call for tenders for the annual "Bernardo Nobile" award, aimed at degrees and PhD theses that have enhanced the use of patent information and "big data analytics" methodologies and techniques, for the extraction of valuable information from bibliographic sources, or addressed the debate between "open data" and privatization of knowledge.
The call is aimed at graduates and PhDs of any nationality who have obtained a master's or specialist degree or the title of PhD at an Italian University within the last three years. The candidates need to present a thesis, written in Italian or English, on the topics indicated above (the amount of each prize is 2,500 Euros).

CONTRIBUTIONS FOR VISITS BY RESEARCHERS, TEACHERS, EXPERTS, PERSONALITIES AND CULTURAL OPERATORS
SUBJECT OF THE CONTRIBUTION:
Researchers, teachers, experts, personalities and foreign cultural operators invited to spend a period of stay at Italian university or cultural institutions for study or research reasons can request from the MAECI an economic contribution consisting in the partial coverage of living expenses, paid in a flat-rate form. In light of the availability of funds, a contribution for a lower number of days than those requested in the application might be disbursed.
Italian researchers, teachers, experts, personalities and cultural operators residing in Italy invited to spend a period of stay at foreign university or cultural institutions for study or research reasons can request from the MAECI an economic contribution consisting in partial coverage (to the extent of 80%) of travel expenses, provided at the end of the mission. It should be noted that the trip, for which reimbursement is requested, CANNOT include additional countries and that the invitation abroad cannot be linked to the disbursement of the contribution by the MAECI.
It should also be noted that it will not be possible to provide for the disbursement of contributions for missions that will take place beyond 14 November 2022.
