The Italian Cultural Institute of Pretoria, in collaboration with the Dante Alighieri Society of Johannesburg, presents two Italian films on 19th and 20th October 2026. These events aim to bring the best of contemporary Italian Cinema to South Africa and will take place at Dante Venue.
The programme will feature two screenings:
- Tienimi presente (2025, Dir. Alberto Palmiero). The film is a tender and ironic portrait of a generation facing uncertainty and searching for purpose. The protagonist, Alberto, a disillusioned young filmmaker, returns to his hometown after spending years in Rome pursuing his dream of making films. While he was living his old life, meeting his old friends, he had new encounters and a slower life compared to the new roman rhythms. Yet, his doubts and forgotten ambitions resurface. Alberto must decide whether to stay or turn his experience into a story.
- Breve storia d’amore (2025, Ludovica Rampoldi). The two protagonists meet by chance and begin a relationship that challenges love and desire. This story involves two couples: Lea and Andrea, and Rocco and Cecilia. Their four lives become intertwined on the night Lea meets Rocco in a bar and begins a secret affair with him, which eventually evolves to involve their respective partners.
