Gloria! by Margherita Vicario

The Italian Cultural Institute of Pretoria, in collaboration with the Italian Club Umberto Minni di Windhoek, is pleased to present Gloria!, the acclaimed directorial debut of Margherita Vicario, as part of the European Union Film Festival Namibia 2026.

Set in late 18th-century Venice, Gloria! tells the story of Teresa, a young woman living in a girls’ institution who, together with a group of female musicians, creates a new form of music, challenging the conventions of her time. Through a story of music, creativity and freedom, the film celebrates women’s talent and voices, blending the past and the present in an original and captivating work.

European Union Film Festival Namibia (EUFF)

The European Union Film Festival Namibia is a celebration of European cinema, culture and storytelling, offering audiences the opportunity to discover new stories, perspectives and cinematic traditions. The 2026 edition takes place in Windhoek throughout October and November, with screenings hosted by the Goethe-Institut Namibia and the Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre. All screenings are free of charge. Through a selection of films from different European countries, the Festival promotes intercultural dialogue and creates a space for exchange between Europe and Namibia, highlighting cinema as a powerful means of fostering understanding and cultural exchange.
