The Italian Cultural Institute in Pretoria and the Embassy of Italy in Pretoria are proud to host Telmo Pievani, one of the world’s leading philosophers of science and evolutionary biologists, for a series of special lectures in South Africa.
Telmo Pievani’s visit to South Africa is part of the Italian Research Day in the World 2025 celebrations, an initiative aimed at highlighting the contributions of Italian researchers abroad and promoting science and innovation as key drivers of global progress.
Pievani, Professor at the University of Padua and visiting scientist at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, is renowned for his groundbreaking work in evolutionary theory, environmental philosophy, and science communication. With over 375 publications, he has shaped contemporary discussions on human origins, biodiversity, and the challenges of the Anthropocene.
