Vincenzo Casale in South Africa

The Italian Cultural Institute in Pretoria is proud to announce the presence the renowned clarinet player Vincenzo Casale to the 2024 International Clarinet Extravaganza, a week-long event organized in collaboration with the Free State Symphony Orchestra di Stellenbosch.

Throughout its eight years of existence, the festival has been hosted by the Odeion School of Music and University of the Free State in Bloemfontein, and this year it has been extended for the first time to the Hugo Lambrechts School of Music in Western Cape.

Born 1981, Vincenzo Casale is an Italian player and conductor, who has specialized over the past ten years in historical performance practice with original instruments. He is much in demand throughout Europe and North America both as a soloist and a chamber music player, and in recent years he’s been invited to take part in several projects as guest conductor and artistic director. As well as being Professor of historical clarinet at the Gent Royal Conservatory, he is Professor at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, and he has also been an irreplaceable contributor to many festivals worldwide.

He is currently artistic director of the interdisciplinary festival ARTONOV.

He will perform in Bloemfontein starting from January 31 to February 3, before moving to Cape Town for two more days (February 5-6). During this time, he will present various masterclasses and informative talks. Moreover, he will take part in a festival Clarinet Choir as well as taking part to various venue concerts and a gala concert.
