The event is part of the Italian Book & Wine Club in Pretoria: a celebration of Italian Literature and Flavors.
The Italian Cultural Institute in Pretoria is thrilled to announce the launch of the Italian Book & Wine Club, an exclusive experience that brings together the finest Italian literature with the delight of authentic wines and gourmet delicacies.
From 12 April to 30 October, in monthly meetings, book and food enthusiasts will have the chance to explore the masterpieces of Italian literature, read in English, while savouring a carefully curated selection of premium wines, cheeses, and cured meats.
On the programme, timeless Italian classics will be read in English:
- The Leopard by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa
- My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante
- The Tartar Steppe by Dino Buzzati
- A Girl Returned by Donatella Di Pietrantonio
- Italian Folktales by Italo Calvino
- Arturo’s Island by Elsa Morante
The club will take place at Tutto Vino, at the Italian Club in Pretoria, a refined and welcoming venue that perfectly embodies the essence of Italian culture and hospitality.
Each session will be led by Dr. Raphael d’Abdon, a poet, writer, and scholar, who will provide insights into the selected works and facilitate engaging discussions. The first session can be booked separately at a special price, with the option to deduct the cost from the full package if continuing with the program.
